Disagreement Resolution
What is Disagreement Resolution?
From 1st June the arrangements for Disagreement Resolution
changed; Wessex now cover the whole region.
Sometimes parents do not agree with the decisions made by schools or Local
Authorities about their child's special educational needs. Parent Partnership
Services can often help and are a good first point of contact. Parents can
also ask for an independent disagreement resolution service to be involved.
Independent disagreement resolution - sometimes called mediation - is a free service for parents of children with special educational needs. If you live in the South West the independent disagreement resolution service is provided by Wessex Mediation. Find out more from their website or download a copy of their leaflet.
Your local Parent Partnership Service will always be able to give you information about mediation, so do not hesitate to get in touch with them. You can also contact Wessex Mediation direct by phoning 0845 0529487, or send an email to info@wessexmediation.co.uk.
