Regional Standards
All the Parent Partnership Services in the south west have contributed to the development of regional standards that build on the minimum standards for Parent Partnership Services in the SEN Code of Practice. The latest version (2007) of the Regional Standards has been revised to take account of:
- Every Child Matters
- The development of integrated Children's Services and Children's Trusts
- An increasing emphasis on the involvement of parents in policy and planning
- The national evaluation of PPS
- The exemplifications of the minimum standards for PPS.
Parent Partnership Services - exemplifications of minimum standards
This document sets out the Government's expectations of good practice in the provision of impartial Parent Partnership Services. The exemplars illustrate a range of practice from the minimum to best practice. It is intended that Parent Partnership Services and Local Authorities will use the exemplars as a self-review tool in order to ensure that services are delivered 'at arms-length' and to build parents' confidence in the advice and support they receive from PPS. These exemplifications were informed by the work previously done in the South West on the development of Regional Standards and the revised (2007) version of the standards are already cross-referenced to them. here.
Local Authorities and Parent Partnership Services that sign up to the standards agree to work towards them and to use them for regular self-evaluation. You can view the regional standards
