Regional Publications
Providing Information for Parents/Carers
A Regional Approach
The South West Regional Parent Partnership Network (SWRPPN), in conjunction with the South West Regional Partnership, established a sub-group in 2001 to develop a range of publications for parents which would be made available to members of the network. The sub-group included Parent Partnership Officers, parents and the Regional Facilitator from the South West Regional Partnership.
The SWRPPN recommends that services work toward a minimum standard in providing information for parents/carers. These are described in the 'Information and Publicity' section of the SWRPPN Regional Standards for Parent Partnership Services. It is also recommended that an information policy is adopted. An example of a policy is available below.
Model Policy on information for parents
Since every Parent Partnership Service and Local Authority has an individual approach, it is not desirable to produce actual regional publications, but the sub-group identified a list of types of publication, together with suggested text which can be adjusted/added to as necessary.
The subgroup has produced:
The sub-group's recommendations and all the model text are available as a series of WORD files. These may be downloaded and customised by other Parent Partnership Services. While the SWRPPN has taken every care to ensure that the information provided in these model leaflets is accurate it is the responsibility of those who make use of the materials to ensure that the information is up to date, accurate and accessible.
If making use of the materials you are asked to acknowledge the work done by the SWRPPN, e.g. 'Thanks to the SW Regional Parent Partnership Network for their support in developing this range of leaflets'. Please note that the SWRPPN collaborated with the Eastern Region Parent Partnership Network, who had already done some similar work. Where text developed by the Eastern Region Group has been used this is acknowledged on the model leaflet. Please ensure that this acknowledgement is retained.
Please note that text shown as blue stars or in blue bold italics MUST be checked/amended to reflect local circumstances. The violet font is for guidance and is not intended to be used in publications. All other text may be altered and formatted as necessary.
